AnaBat: Bat detector - mobile monitoring
A bat detector is mounted on or used from a moving vehicle. It can be essentially active or passive.
Mobile monitoring is ideal for:
- Large-scale spatial emphasis - finding where and which bats are found over large areas
- Can provide actual numbers of bats - little chance ofencountering the same individual twice
- Well suited to regular transects for temporal coverage
- Good for identifying hot spots of bat activity
- Ideal way to involve unskilled volunteers
- Best suited to surveying of aerial insectivores
